A Healthier Lebanon Starts Here: Why Boone County Needs a Dedicated Recovery & Wellness Hub
A town on the rise (and on the move)
Lebanon isn’t the sleepy pit stop it used to be. Our population has climbed in recent years—ticking up from roughly 17.3k in 2022 to about 17.6k in 2023—and estimates put the city at ~17.6k–17.7k today. That’s steady, healthy growth for Boone County’s seat. Data USA+2World Population Review+2
What’s fueling it? Two megaprojects that put Lebanon on national maps:
-
Eli Lilly is building out a multi-billion-dollar campus at the LEAP Lebanon Innovation District. The company first announced $3.7B in 2023, expanded by $5.3B to ramp up medicines, and added $4.5B for the Lilly Medicine Foundry—bringing total commitments in Lebanon to roughly $9B. That’s jobs, activity, and a long runway of growth.

All of this sits inside the state’s LEAP Lebanon district—more than 9,000 acres master-planned for advanced manufacturing and innovation just off the I-65 corridor. Translation: more professionals moving here, more long hours, and higher stress loads—exactly the conditions that make high-quality recovery and wellness services essential, not optional.

Sports are changing here, too
If you grew up in Indiana, you know we measure seasons by basketball schedules. Locally, the Sagamore Conference is in the middle of a major reshuffle. Harrison and McCutcheon are joining Lebanon, Danville, and Tri-West; Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South are slated to join in 2026–27, giving student-athletes new opponents, bigger travel blocks, and a tougher grind. That means more wear-and-tear on bodies that need science-backed recovery between games.

More teams, more miles, more minutes—our high-schoolers will benefit from accessible tools like compression therapy, infrared sauna, red-light therapy, cryotherapy, and smart hydration/IV protocols. Having a local hub keeps families off the road and kids on the court (or field) feeling their best.
Holistic health isn’t fringe—it’s the new mainstream
Nationally, the wellness economy has blasted past $6.3 trillion and is projected to keep climbing toward $8–9 trillion this decade. Recovery-forward services—everything from saunas and red-light to IV therapy—are part of that shift toward prevention, performance, and mental well-being. Zoom in further and you’ll see specific categories growing fast:
-
Infrared sauna usage and market demand have been expanding in the U.S., backed by consistent mid-single-digit to high-single-digit growth forecasts. Mordor Intelligence+1
-
Red-light therapy adoption is rising across gyms, med-spas, and recovery studios as consumers look for non-invasive tools that reduce soreness and improve skin health. (Market analyses show double-digit growth for red-light equipment in the U.S.) Grand View Research
The takeaway? People everywhere—from college athletes to desk-bound pros—are integrating holistic recovery into normal life. Lebanon’s not an exception; we’re the use-case.
Why Lebanon specifically needs a recovery & wellness space—now
1) The worker pipeline is ramping up. With Lilly and Meta anchoring the LEAP district, we’ll have more engineers, technicians, construction teams, IT professionals, and support staff. Longer shifts and high-focus roles demand proactive recovery to keep folks healthy and productive. (And yes, fewer sick days and better sleep help every employer.) WRTV Indianapolis+1
2) Student-athletes are playing more—and traveling farther. Conference realignments and bigger opponents mean tougher schedules and less margin for error. Recovery can be the difference between “nagging soreness” and “ready to play.”
3) Families are busier than ever. Between commuting, practices, shift work, and church on Sunday, local access matters. A Lebanon-based hub keeps recovery efficient: in for 30–45 minutes, out and back to life.4) Prevention beats reaction. Modern wellness is moving upstream—reduce inflammation, manage stress, improve sleep, and you’ll see fewer flare-ups and “couch weekends.” The data shows prevention-oriented wellness is where the global market is heading. What a community recovery hub delivers (real-world benefits)
-

-
For active teenagers & athletes: Faster turnaround between practices and games; reduced soreness; smarter load management with compression, cryo, and red-light so hard work actually pays off on game day. Stateline Sports Network
-
For business professionals: Circulation support, neck/low-back relief, stress modulation, and better sleep quality mean clearer mornings and steadier energy—especially helpful during big builds, product ramps, and quarter-end sprints. WRTV Indianapolis
-
For older adults: Gentle circulation boosts, mobility support, and inflammation management that help maintain independence and enjoyment (grandkids don’t slow down—ask anyone). Coherent Market Insights
Pair those with education (hydration, mobility basics, breathwork) and community programming (team recovery nights, parent workshops, corporate wellness pop-ups), and you’ve got a place that’s equal parts practical and uplifting.
A little Hoosier plain-talk
Around here, we take care of what works hard—tractors, trucks, and yes, bodies. Lebanon’s growth is a blessing, but growth without recovery is like running your car without oil. It’ll go… until it doesn’t.
A dedicated recovery and wellness space lets us work hard and last long—the Indiana way. And it meets people where they are: athletes chasing PRs, pros building the next big thing at LEAP, and families who just want to feel good enough to enjoy the weekend.
So, why Regenerate Wellness—and why now?
Because the need is already here: population up, jobs surging, student-athlete demands rising, and a national wellness shift that’s not slowing down. Lebanon deserves a convenient, friendly, science-backed recovery home base—one that keeps our community healthy, resilient, and ready for what’s coming next.
Look, I grew up a Lebanon Tiger, but I want Boone County as a whole to THRIVE. It's time we stop just blending in with the rest of Central Indiana and show this state why Lebanon sure as hell isn't just a pit stop anymore.
Lebanon is growing. Let’s grow stronger and healthier right along with it.
